Description

In this shiur on the Aggadeta on the power of Prayer, we will establish that there are two goals of Tefilla, one is the recognition of the greatness and glory of the Almighty, and the other is the ability to petition Hashem for our needs and Hashem hearkens to our prayers and responds. Prayer becomes the tool for man's achieving spiritual perfection and actualizing his potential. The primary goal of Tefilla is "rina" the recognition of Hashem, and without Rina man is not prepared to experience the Bakash (petition) dimension of Prayer. Thus the relationship between Prayer as petition & Prayer as Praise is that the latter is the "hechsher" (preparation) for the former. This will shed light on the uniqueness of Prayer in the Synagogue.
