Description

In this shiur for Masechet Makot 17a: we will analyze five categories of Kodesh brought to Yerushalayim, beginning with ma'aser, continuing to a more severe Kodesh, Bikurim which require Mizbe'ach but without Haktare, continuing up the ladder to Kodshim Kalim (Shelamim & Todah), and moving to a stricter Kodesh, namely Bechor which can only be eaten by Kohanim, and then reaching Kodshei Kadshim, i.e. Chatos & Asham, which can only be eaten in the Azara, until we arrive at the highest Kedusha, i.e. Korban Olah. In each case the Torah is adding a new Lav that reflects the higher level of Kedusha.
