Description

The Mishna in Masechet Pesachim establishes that the KeZayis Pesach must be the very last אכילה of the night of Pesach and is called the Afikoman. The sugya extends this Halacha to KeZayis Matzah & the matzah must be eaten at the conclusion of the Seudah; nothing should be eaten after the Afikoman. Is the Afikoman of Matzah simply a זכר לקרבן פסח? Or are Pesach & Matzah equal - they both must be eaten Afikoman? Would the mitzva of Matzah be incomplete if one ate after the Afikoman? If he ate after the Afikoman must he repeat the Achila of Matzah a second time around? We will analyze the various opinions in the Rishonim with special emphasis on the Rambam & the requirement of שיהא טעם מצה בפיו. We will study the proposal of the Avnei Nezer.
