In this shiur for Masechet Makot, we will study the following Lavin: איסור קרחה, השחתת פאת הראש והזקן, שריטה על המת. In the context of each of these prohibitions we will analyze the question: what is the maximum # of sets of Malkos that a violator can incur? In the case of one's beard are there 5 different פאות, each פאה would engender its own set of Malkot? How can one create 5 קרחותsimultaneously & receive 5 sets of Malkot? Does one violate the Issur if he removes hair from his beard with tweezers, scissors. or a scraping utensil? How many hairs constitute the minimal shiur for the violation of הקפת פאת הראש? Is the barber the only one who receives Malkot? When does one violate the Issur of wounding himself? Which tattoo is prohibited?
