Description

In this shiur for Masechet Makot we will investigate the possibility that Malkot can serve as as a substitute for Kares. In the second part of the shiur we will study three bold decisions taken by Beit Din in Jewish History, decisions which merited the approval of the Heavenly Court. Beit Din established the Mitzvot of Purim; they changed the nature of the Mitzva of Maaser; they allowed for one to greet his friend and enunciate the Name of Hashem. We will study three cases in History where Hashem Himself testifies that all was done properly. One, Yehuda's decision to exonerate Tamar; Two, Shlomo Hamelech's decision to give the baby to one particular Mother; Shmuel HaNavi never took anything from any member of Klal Yisrael.
