Description

For Masechet Makot 24a, we will learn that Dovid - and after him Yeshayhu - "reduced" the overwhelming number of 613 mitzvot to a smaller number. Why? The Rivan speaks about the "yeridas ha'doros" and the later generations inability to live up to demands of the full 613. But exactly what was Dovid HaMelech proposing and how we he solve the challenge of the 613 that was too great for the people of Israel? How would his 11 "mitzvot" guarantee the Jew a place in the world to come? Our approach to this sugya is based on the understanding of the Cjavas Ya'ir (Bachrach) that all the 11 are מידות חסידות way beyond the strict legal requirement.
