Description
The Mishna records the debate between Beis Hillel & Beis Shamai as transmitted by R' Yossi. The first part of our shiur is dedicated to analyzing the 3 comments of Rashi on the Mishna. Is there a logical possibility that one who violates the Issur Ha"a'la'ah will be enjoined from eating the meat & milk since he violated the Issur? If Rashi is understood to maintain that the גזירת העלאה is meant to avoid close contact between meat & cheese, why should the Mishna permit placing these on a serving table? Would Rashi allow placing meat & milk on an eating table if these are brought to the table in separate, closed receptacles? Acc to the Ra'ah Ha'ala'ah is prohibited because of eating & should apply to closed receptacles but not to raw meat.
