Description

While the plagues are a clear system of 10, only the first 7 appear in Parshat Vaeira. Why are they divided into two groups, one of 7 and one of 3? And how do the 10 plagues parallel other systems of 10 in Judaism history, like the Maamarot and the Dibrot? We being to explore these topics, focusing on the meaning of the first seven makkot and their connection to the seven lower sefirot or middot. (Part of HaMidrasha at QC, OU-JLIC's Torah learning program for women at Queens College.)
