Description

When may we permit two eating at the same table, one meat & the other milk? Is the היתר limited to the rare case of אכסנאים who are total strangers? Or is the איסור limited to the rare case of two very close friends who eat one from the other's plate without inhibition? The difference is the large majority of the population who are neither total strangers nor intimate friends, Re'im Ahuvim. The Shulchan Aruch seems to be מחמיר and limit the permissibly to the narrow slice of total strangers. The Shach's language, however, seems to indicate that he permissibly includes most cases and only excludes the rare case of close friends that would share their food. In the last part of the shiur we begin to study the q': how to permit this Issur.
