Description
We begin the Mishna of טיפת חלב with the study of the controversy between Abbaye & Rava regarding the nature of Basar BeChalav and the possibility of deriving the principle of טעם כעיקר from this Issur. Does Basar Bechalav become prohibited as a result of the טעם of one in the other, or as a result of the combination of these two foodstuffs? The latter definition is called חידוש and it applies to Sha'atnez as well. Abaye argues that given the definition of Basar Bechalav as 'Chiddush', even the smallest amount of milk cooked with a large volume of meat should engender the Issur. Rava counters that although חידוש, nevertheless there must be טעם; otherwise there was no בישול. And it is Bishul which creates this Issur.
