In this shiur for Masechet Chulin 108b, we will address the issue of the relationship between אפשר לסוחטו and חנ"ן בשאר איסורים. The fundamental issue is how to define the Issur Basar Bechalav, is it an איסור מחמת בילוע or is it an איסור מחמת עצמו? If the former, then why is אפשר לסוחטו אסור? Why not simply remove the בליעה and the meat will revert back to its original Heter? If we assume that not all the בליעה will go out in the 2nd cooking, then why not apply the rule of ביטול? We will offer two explanations as to why Bittul doesn't work, but either way, the issue of אפשר לסוחטו as well as the principle of חנ"ן remain the same whether we are talking about Basar BeChalav or about other Issurim. Not so if בב"ח אסור מחמת עצמו.
