For our stufy of Yoreh Deah siman 96, we will discuss various issues regarding a דבר חריף. We will analyze the quest of relying on a קפילא to determine if the taste of the meat is felt in the onion that was sliced with a meaty knife. Is there a difference between an onion sliced with a non-kosher knife (שאר איסורים) as apposed to an onion that was sliced with a meaty knife (בב"ח)? We will address the question: does this 'meaty' onion' if ground in a מדוכה make the latter meaty? Does the chumra of דבר חריף apply exclusively to a knife that was a בן יומו, i.e. it was used to cut meat on this very day?
