In this introduction to the sugya of טעם כעיק, we will address the following questions: from where do we derive this principle? Is it a DeOraisa or a דין דרבנן? Is the ta'am exactly like the Issur such that if one eats a כזית of Heter that absorbed a טעם איסור he would receive Malkos? Or is טעם an Issur unto itself but one would receive Malkos only if he ate the entire taaroves which includes a Kezayis of Issur בעין? Does the Rambam accept the opinion of Rabenu Tam that Taam KeIkar DeOraisa?
