Description

The sugya in Masechet Psachim 76a addresses the following q': in a ta'aroves, which dominates? The one on top or the one on the bottom? This is the great controversy between Rav & Shmuel. They are arguing about how Bishul operates. If hot falls into cold, Rav insists that we have real בישול. Shmuel insists that the cold on the bottom dominates & cools off the hot falling in; hence, there is no Bishul in this case. We will wonder if Shmuel recognizes the concept of עילאי גבר. We will offer three approaches to explain why Shmuel believes that תתאי גבר.
