Gemara:
We will study the paradoxical status of כחל. On the one hand it is a חפצא דהתירא, and if the כחל was cooked in its milk it would be Heter. On the other hand, if the כחל was cooked with other pieces of meat the כחל becomes Assur, meaning it is a חפצא דאיסורא. Yet this last definition cannot be accurate since the volume of the כחל is integrated into the 59 pieces of Heter to create Bittul. The plot grows thicker: if we have 60x in the meat Heter then the assumption is that all the milk in the כחל leaves and spreads throughout the pot & there's no milk left in the כחל. Why then should the כחל generate an Issur if it falls into another pot? If there is still milk in the כחל then why is the כחל permitted when cooked alone?
