For Masechet Kidushin 7b-8b, we will study the sugya of how to define שוה כסף, does the object offered as payment to the מקנה need to be evaluated before it was given as payment? This controversy between Rabba & Rav Yosef can be understood in one of two wasys. Is it (a) a question of גמירת דעת, i.e. the recipient is not certain about the value of the object, or (b) it's a fundemantal issue of definition, an object of value must have a set & known value in order to operate as Kesef. This sugya will lead to an anlysis of קנין עבד עברי and Pidyon HaBen. The last part of the shiur will address the various cases of משטה אני בך when she indicates that she is not interested in receiving the money for Kiddushin.
