For our study of Masechet Kiddushin 14b-15b we will learn about the great debate re: the two categories of Eved Ivri: מכרוהו בי"ד מכר עצמו. Is there an equation between the two? The Tana Kama enumerates four Halachos that apply exclusively to מכרוהו בית דין and do not apply to one who sells himself. The law that the Eved goes free after 6 years; the law of הענקה that obligates the owner to give his Eved gifts at the termination of the Avdus; the law of נרצע, i.e. that if the Eved refuses to go free after 6 years a hole is drilled into his ear; the law that the Master can give his Eved a שפחה כנענית. R' Elazar accepts the גז"ש which equates a מוכר עצמו to the Eved sold by B"D. Thus all four Halachos apply to the Eved who sold himself.
