Description

In this shiur we will discuss the status of a kohen who killed someone vis-a-vis the mitzva of Nesiat Kapaim? We will see the sugya of R' Yochanan in Masechet Berachot who derives this Psul from the verse in Yeshayu. What is his status after he did Teshuva? What if he kill due to an אונס, e.g. he killed under duress when his own life was endangered? Or if he was driving a car and a child out of nowhere ran out in front of his car and the child was tragically killed? What if the Kohen had a mitzva to kill as in the case of war? Our fundamental issue is this: what generates the Psul of the kohen? Is it the רשעות הגברא, or is it a case of אין קטיגור נעשה סניגר? The latter possibility must be predicated on the breakthrough of the Chida.
