Description
For Masechet Bava Kamma 58a-b, we will study the concept of מבריח ארי. One saves his friend from a loss: can he bill his friend for his efforts? If the action of 'chasing away the lion' was implemented voluntarily and at no financial loss, it is defined as a mitzva act for which no compensation can be demanded. The sugya discusses the following issue: the animal fell into his friend's garden thru no fault of its owner. At what point does the owner become responsible to get his animal out of there? The sugya discusses the case of the animal falling: was the owner at fault when the animal fell into the neighbor's garden? Could have been more careful when he lead his animals thru a high narrow path? And what if he was a paid shepard?
