Description
The sugya in Bava Kamma 87b addresses a number of issues: Does the father collect דמי חבלה for his young daughter's injury?; how to encourage the father to support his children; does the father collect דמי חבלה? The sugya begins with the opinion of Rav that the father who can marry off his young daughter & collect the $ of kiddushin, nevertheless he has no rights over דמי חבלה with the exception of שבת since the girl's income accrue to the father. The sugya continues & offers a way of reconciling 2 contradictory Beraisos re: whether the father pays compensation if he injures his son or daughter. This leads the sugya to the issue of encouraging the father to commit himself to support his children. The concept of איבה becomes critical.
