Description

In Parshat Behaalotcha we finally begin our journey into the desert and towards Eretz Yisrael. Why does this Parsha of journeying open with the lighting of the Menorah? In fact, when we examine the Menorah throughout Chumash, it comes up many times and always in unexpected places. What is the message of the Menorah? How does it set the stage for our Parsha as a whole? We look to Rashi, Ramban, and to Chanukah itself to reveal new aspects of the light of the Menorah.
