Description
For Bava Matzia 26a-b we will study the ruling of the Mishna re: a find in a rented house, finders keepers. Why not require the finder to return the object to the last renter, or to the owner of the house? The sugya proves from coins found in Yerushalayim that during the period of the Regel we assume that these coins are Ma'aser Sheni. We will study the case of one who finds an object that definitely belongs to one of two or three people. Do we assume that the owner gave up hope of retrieving his object? Did the owner conclude that the others with him are thieves who refuse to return a lost object? And does this apply even if the others are Jews? Does that premise establish a psak accepting the view of R' Shimon re: a city made up of Jews?
