Description
We begin the sugya in Bava Matzia 30a by completing the sugya of לצורכו ולצרכה with a Braisa that seems to indicate that the finder may not spread the cloth or garment if he has the additional motivation of benefitting from doing so. A 2nd Braisa addresses an analogous law in Egla Arufa and Para Aduma. The sugya rejects both proofs & ends with an unanswered question. The sugya then addresses the q': Can the finder & a Shomer use the utensils for their own benefit whilst these are in his possession? Finally the sugya addresses the law of the Zaken, the Torah scholar, who is exempt from embarrassing himself by returning an animal or a large basket found in a public area. Would the Zaken be encouraged to return the Aveidah לפנים משורת הדין.
