Description

The sugya in Masechet Bava Matzia 42a-b defines the requirement of a Shomer to guard money, is it sufficient for him to wrap the coins in a cloth and carry the 'bag' behind him? Must the Shomer dig a hole in the ground and hide the money below ground level? What if the Shomer provided an adequate protection against the thieves but was negligent in terms of a possible fire? What if the Shomer passed on the פקדון to a family member but withheld the information that the money belongs to someone else? Who is obligated to pay? What if the אפוטרופוס bought a sick ox for the orphans & passed on the ox to the shepherd who failed to provide the proper protection. Who is responsible?
