Description

We begin a new sugya in Masechet Bava Kamma 105b: what testimony qualifies as עדות ממון to engender a שבועת קרבן? The witnesses could have helped the plaintiff with their supportive testimony but there is no guarantee that the plaintiff would have won the case & retrieved his money or his lost object since the testimony is incomplete or the witness is a single witness on his own. Does the oath taken by the witness - denying his knowledge - constitute a שבועת ממון? The sugya introduces the principle of דבר הגורם לממון.
