Description

Masechet Zevachim 16a-b: the prohibition of a זר doing the עבודה and the resulting חילול העבודה. The sugya searches for the sources fro these laws and offers a number of alternative possibilities. The sugya continues with a similar analysis of the Psul of an אונן who has lost one of his close relatives. In the case of an אונן the Torah grants the Kohen Gadol special status. We will learn about the היתר במות and the status of a זר as opposed to a טמא או בעל מום. The latter two categories of פסולי עבודה hve unique Halachot. The מום status applies to the animal consecrated as a korban. The טמא status is unique insofar as the טמא transmits that contamination to others. The unique חומרא of a זר is the irreversible nature of the Psul.
