The Sfas Emes teaches us that the instruction of “Re’eh” means that before doing anything in life we ask one simple question: Do we want to accept the yoke if Heaven? Once we make that decision, it dictates what we decide and how we react in the future. He connects this to Shabbos, which infuses the week afterwards and which we’re constantly recalling throughout the weekdays, until ultimately we return to it again, much like teshuva.
