Description

Developing the connection between Sukkot and Eretz Yisrael, with an emphasis on entering the Land, from the coins of the Great Revolt and Bar Kochba through the Aliyah of the students of the Vilna Gaon. I made at least 2 factual errors in the shiur: 1)I stated as fact that Bar Kochba retook Yerushalayim from the Romans. However, several historians debate this claim. See https://www.ancient.eu/The_Bar-Kochba_Revolt/ and the articles bibliography for further research. 2)I stated that Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnefeld came from the community of the students of the Gra. However, in truth he was born in Hungary and studied under the Ksav Sofer before moving to Yerushalayim.
