Description

Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) is the field of medicine that uses various technologies, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) coupled with preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), to treat infertility. However, this field can be fraught with ethical and religious debate when it involves cases where the patient’s wishes may conflict with the physician’s own religious beliefs. What if a Jewish, non-observant woman asks her Orthodox physician to use Jewish donor sperm? What if it is a single woman asking for donor insemination? How can the Orthodox physician navigate his patient’s request to perform elective PGD for sex determination? During this panel, Dr. Richard Grazi and Rabbi Dr. Richard Weiss will evaluate these three case studies
