Shalom, I listened to your podcast on Binyan hamikdash and feel that you presented a very one sided understanding of Rashi . Great Rabbis in our generation have unfortunately used this Rashi to deflect all responsibility of binyan hamikdash and have thrown the entire enterprise onto God. Instead of questioning this Rashi and determining whether this is shitas Rashi in the rest of Shas and Torah, they flippantly embrace this problematic Rashi and actually use it to posek halacha. This is patently wrong and is מוציא לעז on Rashi. According to the 9th עיקר אמונה of the Rambam, mitzvot never change. This idea of Hashem doing our mitzvot goes against the principles of faith. More importantly, Rashi in at least 5 other places says explicitly man will build the Mikdash All Rishonim and Achronim say man must build the mikdash. I can send you the list. No achron takes this Rashi to heart. Most importantly, the mikdash is not just one mitzvah but a trigger for over 200 mitzvot that can only be done on har habayit. How can one based on acryptic Rashi uproot 1/3 of the Torah when we have a klal of WE MUST DO ALL MITZVOT. I live in Israel and go up to Har habyit. I have learned Kodshim for over 15 years and have investigated this topic thorougly. I actually graduated YU in 88. You are clearly a talmid chacham and you give a great shiur . I mean no disrespect, but feel these issues are often treated very שטחי and require a more in-depth understanding. The number one question that must be answered with regard to this Rashi is: can Hashem do our mitzvot for us and if so, when did Hashem change his Torah and mitzvot that he gave on Har sinai?
