The Haftarah on the 2nd day of Rosh haShanah is comprised of the first 19 verses in Yirmiyahu 31, a beautiful prophecy of consolation. We study the text with an eye towards the audience of the message, the images that Yirmiiyahu uses and why this passage was selected for this special day. The tears of Rachel Imeinu are heard here in Ramah and the great promise of ושבו בנים לבגולם is the Divine response to her weeping.
