Description

The world's gradually becoming a "global village". Modern life is based on international commerce, travel, & culture, & the computer & social media have enhanced this even more. As opposed to the religious approach of "insulation", with constant fear of assimilation, Rav Kook already foresaw, even before the airplane & internet, the good in the unity which will result from this forthcoming world sharing, as we did even from the Romans. He already warns & directs us how (!) to take the good not the bad from the gentiles & modernism, & influence the world in that direction, rather than being influenced. Even as mankind's folding flags to be one family, there still is a need for nationalism, & especially the role of Am Yisrael as 'Bechor'.
