Description

This shiur explains that time represents movement, incompleteness, and the feeling that we are still on the way, while makom represents arrival, menuchah, and being where we truly belong. Shabbos is the meeting point of both: a holy time that gives us a taste of the ultimate place of shleimus, like Yerushalayim and the Beis HaMikdash. On Shabbos, a Jew is asked to live as if all his work is finished — not because everything is actually perfect, but because Shabbos opens a window into the world of menuchah, where life has meaning beyond running, chasing, and searching. The shiur urges us to protect the Shabbos table from the noise, politics, anxiety, distracting tech, and endless chesronos of the week, and instead create a place of presence, family, kedushah, and calm. When Shabbos is truly Shabbos, it gives strength and meaning to the entire week, helping a person move through the six days with purpose, simchah, and a taste of the ultimate Shabbos of geulah.
