אפשר לצמצם. בספר חסד לאברהם (סי' ח') כתב דהבדל מיעוט בין בתי התפילין אנו מעכב ואינו מוצא מכלל ריבוע, דאלת"ה א"כ לריה"ג דא"א לצמצם איך יוכל לקים מצות מרובעות, וע' בשו"ת ארץ צבי (ח"א סי' י"ב) שכתב וז"ל, ואין אלו ראיות כל דגם ב"ד אפי' נימא דבעי' רבוע גמור בצמצום מ"מ לא ניתנה תורה למלה"ש וא"א שיהי' החוב עליו יותר מגדר האפשרי לבו"ד, וכעי"ז בבכורות י"ז: שא"ה דרחמנא אמר עביד ובכל הכא דמצית למיעבד ניחא ל' והיכא שידע בבירור שארכו יתר על רחבו משהו אין לנו ראי' להכשיר עכ"ל. וכן עי' בשו"ת להורות נתן (ח"ו סי' ב' אות י"ב, וע"ע בדבריו בסי' ד'). וע"ע בדבר אברהם (א:ב:ו) ובס' שיח יוסף (ח"ב סי' רי"ב)
