Description

The halachik concept of יוהרא, haughtiness, & its ramifications & applications. Ultimately we wish to address the question: is one permitted to accept upon himself a Chumra when others, even Torah scholars, are נוהגין להקל, taking a lenient view? A chasson & kriat shema, abstaining from work on Tisha Bav, wearing tzitzis outside his garment, Tefillin of R' Tam, fasting when only the scholars are fasting, extreme grief over the loss of the Mikdash, not walking on the land of חבירו when permissible, abstaining from Chalav Akum, or not relying on the Eruv, reciting Shema late, removing bones from fish on Shabat? What if there are Poskim haMachmirim? What if he himself is a pious scholar? What in the presence of scholars? What about in private?
