For Masechet Bava Matzia 51a-b we will continue to study the laws of cheating, אונאה, for the seller & the buyer. How long do we give the seller to claim 'I was cheated'? Can the buyer claim אונאה if he purchased a personal, unique object from a private owner who is not in business? We will study the new Mishna and analyze why the Torah needed to teach that both the seller & the buyer can claim אונאה? Do both seller & buyer have rights - if cheated - to void the sale? These and other questions will be addressed. We begin the sugya of Rav & Shmuel: can the seller set a condition that the buyer will not be able to exercise his right to claim אונאה? Can a man marry a woman & stipulate that in their marriage he will not have to provide for her?
