Daf Yomi B'Iyun 14a: In this shiur we will address the question: what are we not allowed to do before davening? We will discuss three categories of prohibitions. One is שאלת שלום which includes greeting a person with the word 'Shalom' one of the names of God. Under this category one is not permitted to go out of one's way to encounter his friend as an act of respect. The respect for God must come first. The second category is התעסקות בעסקיו including any involvement in one's financial endeavors. Third is eating and drinking. We will investigate a variety of activities that would likely be permitted such as saying 'good morning' or buying for food for Shabbos. We will touch on many similar situations & questions that ar
