For Masechet Bava Kamma 91b we address the question: is one permitted to inflict injury upon himself? Is there a violation of the Lav of Lo Tashchis? If it is permitted, why is it different than ripping a garment which is a definite violation? In the latter half of the shiur we will discuss the application of Lo Tashchis to cutting down fruit producing trees in the Land. Under what circumstances can this be permitted?
