HI kvod harav. EVEN to this day it is protocol with a reception of state that military honors are given. SO maybe rashbam alludes to the then current protocols to soothe the crusaders. ESSAV brings honor guards in order to give yacov a state reception. This is a sate renion of two kings. AND essav being essav he wont do without his guards of honor. NATURALLY it is a deceptive move. He can use the guards for honor...or for someth8ng more... HI from switzerland.
