Dr. Jay Mayefsky

Dr. Mayefsky is the Associate Medical Director for Heartland Health Centers, a Federally Qualified Health Center serving the underserved in Chicago, in charge of Heartland’s six school-based clinics. He is board certified in General and Emergency Pediatrics. He graduated from Northwestern University Medical School and completed a pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Subsequently, he was a Robert Wood Johnson Fellow in Academic General Pediatrics at the University of Rochester, where he also earned a Masters Degree in Public Health. Prior to joining Heartland Health Centers, Dr. Mayefsky practiced at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County for 30 years. He was Director of Outpatient Pediatrics, and Associate Director of the The Great Lakes Center for Children’s Environmental Health. He is currently a Professor of Pediatrics and Family and Preventive Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and is a member of the faculties of UIC School of Nursing, Rush Medical College, and Malcolm X City College.
