Rav Kook beautifully haromonizes halacha with Jewish thought, as he parallels the laws of shofar with the various types of aliya & the shofar of redemption (Isaiah 27). Rav Kook also relates here to the Betzalel Art Institute, which like all of secular Zionism, he realized to be potentially problematic, while seeing the national awakening with joy as any proud Jew is proud of Jewish accomplishments. This drasha was given right after Hitler ym"sh rose to power, and it's interesting, as well, to see how he was seen in his time.
