Description

Semester 3: Shi'ur 3. We begin our unit on exploring the rise of Chazal. Before tackling Chazal themselves, we attempt to sort through the complexity of figuring out what Jewish law looked like in the period just as rabbinic literature was in its early stages of coalescence. In other words, for what sort of community were Chazal teaching? What can this tell us about the values to which our modern Jewish community should aspire?
