Description

The Midrash (and the Gemara) seems to describe a relationship between Mordechai and Esther that defies both logic and common sense. We analyze some of the Midrashic descriptions of their relationship, and discuss some of the halachic complications that ensue. Finally, we wonder: why do Chazal seem to go through such mental gymnastics to whitewash Esther's actions?
