Description
Shiur 4 in a series of Shiurim on Pikkuach Nefesh in Yoma Perek 8.
This Shiur begins by reviewing and summarizing the piece by Reb Chayim. It then considers another issue relating to the Shalosh Chamuros, three severe sins for which one gives up one’s life rather than violate. Do these prohibitions apply only if there is a context where one is being asked to violate their religious principles? Or do they even apply when the person forcing the violation of these prohibitions is merely interested in their own benefit (Lehana’aso)? We consider a famous dispute between the Ba’al HaMa’or, Raavad, and Ramban (Milchamos) on Sanhedrin, as well as some other views of the Rishonim on this topic.
Shiur Given on Zoom to Bnot Sinai.
